Custom Industrial Mezzanines.
When your warehouse has the height you need but not the floor space, a metal industrial mezzanine doubles or triples the usable floor area, without altering the building. Designed and manufactured in Bergamo since 1975.

How to choose the right industrial mezzanine for your warehouse.
When you need new floor space, the temptation is to “build the largest mezzanine that fits.” But a mezzanine doesn’t truly function when it’s merely extensive; it functions when it precisely supports the load of the activities you’ll place on it and leaves the correct clear height above and below. A floor sized for offices (250 kg/sqm) and one for heavy storage (1,000 kg/sqm) are two different structures, not the same one just “more robust.”
The choice depends on three factors, not just the surface area:

what you will use it for – offices, picking, light or heavy storage;
how much clear height you need above and below the floor – constrained by the warehouse truss;
how you access and move goods – stairs, freight elevators, conveyors, integration with shelving.
We always start with an on-site inspection: we measure the actual height, assess the warehouse constraints and intended use, and advise you on how many levels and what capacity make sense. Then we design, manufacture, and install.
Industrial Mezzanine Configurations.
While mezzanines are always custom-made, they stem from a few core usage logics. Below are the most requested configurations: yours will likely be a combination of these.
Offices and Elevated Areas
When Needed:
you need space for offices, meeting rooms, or changing rooms while keeping the ground floor clear for production. Floor capacity ~250 kg/sqm, solid flooring, access via safety stairs.
Multi-level Picking and Logistics
When Needed:
you want more levels for manual picking to optimize logistics. Grated or sheet metal floors, integrated walkways and stairs, often combined with shelving.
Heavy Storage and Stocking
When Needed:
you need to gain storage surface area. Floors from 500 to 1,000 kg/sqm, access via industrial freight elevator or conveyor for load handling.
Seismic-Resistant Mezzanine
When Needed:
you are in an area with significant seismic activity. We dimension the structure according to Technical Building Standards. One of our recent projects is a seismic-resistant mezzanine with integrated drive-in racking.
Mezzanine Integrated with Shelving
When Needed:
you want the structure to house or surround shelving. The mezzanine is designed around cantilever, pallet rack, or drive-in systems from the project’s inception.
Why choose MCT industrial mezzanines.
An industrial mezzanine changes the intended use of a space and supports people and loads: it is not a structure to improvise on. We design it in our internal technical office (200 sqm), produce it in our 10,000 sqm facility in Mornico al Serio, and our technicians install it. A single point of contact from inspection to testing, also for building permits and maintenance over the years.

A mezzanine is not merely “placed”; it is calculated. We dimension it according to UNI EN 15629 and NTC (including seismic, where required). And because it changes the intended use of the space, it typically requires a SCIA (Certified Notification of Commencement of Works) or municipal authorization: the technical documentation for the permit application is included in the project, not a surprise cost later.
Frequently Asked Questions
about industrial mezzanines
An industrial mezzanine can support from 50 lb/sq ft for offices up to 200 lb/sq ft for heavy storage. The sizing depends on the activities you will perform on it: we define it during an on-site inspection, not from a catalog.
Typically yes, providing good clearance both above and below the level. It depends on the warehouse truss constraints, which we verify during the site inspection.
Yes, integrating a mezzanine with shelving is one of our most requested configurations. The mezzanine can accommodate or surround cantilever, drive-in, or pallet racking, all designed within the same structure.
Typically, yes: an industrial mezzanine alters the intended use and requires a SCIA or municipal authorization. The technical documentation for the procedure is included in the project.
Upon request, we design industrial mezzanines according to NTC seismic criteria. For areas with significant seismicity, this is a mandatory requirement, which we fulfill in-house.
The cost of an industrial mezzanine depends on surface area, levels, load capacity (lb/sq ft), and access points. There is no one-size-fits-all price per square foot: we define it after an on-site inspection, providing a quote that includes engineering calculations, the permitting process, and installation.
An industrial mezzanine is a load-bearing structure designed to support personnel and loads. Its design adheres to NTC (and UNI EN 15629) standards. It requires a building permit application (e.g., SCIA or building permit) due to its alteration of the property’s designated use and is subject to periodic inspection (UNI EN 15635). We manage the entire process, from initial calculations to permit applications and ongoing inspections.
The manufacturing and installation time for a mezzanine depends on the surface area and the number of levels; we define the timeline during the bidding phase. We plan the installation in stages according to your production schedule to minimize downtime.
