Design, manufacturing, installation, and maintenance of Metal Shelving

Industrial Shelving Design

servizi scaffalature metalliche progettazione 2

From structural calculation to mandatory inspection, a single point of contact. We design, manufacture, assemble, and inspect your shelving: seismic calculation, assembly with in-house teams, and periodic inspection according to UNI EN 15635. No hand-offs, no buck-passing.

A shelving system doesn’t end at delivery: it needs to be calculated, assembled, and monitored over the years. Buying it from a reseller often means dealing with three suppliers: one who calculates, one who assembles, and one who (perhaps) returns for inspection. For equipment supporting tons above people, this is precisely where responsibility must not be dispersed.

We follow the entire cycle: shelving design in our facilities in Mornico al Serio (Bergamo), manufacturing, installation, and maintenance. We start with an on-site survey, explain what you truly need, then we build and support you over time.

Custom Industrial Shelving Design.

Shelving is not chosen from a catalog: it’s sized based on your workflow. Cantilever, pallet rack, drive-in, Autosat: each system supports different loads and operates differently. The right structure is not the most robust, but the one calculated based on what you store, how you move it, and at what density. We start with an on-site survey, analyze your warehouse flow, and size bays, capacities, and layout based on this data.

Our in-house technical department (200 sq m) performs the calculations, according to UNI EN 15629 and UNI EN 15512, with seismic dimensioning (NTC) where required. We define load capacity labels based on the project, not on estimates.

Shelving Installation and Assembly with In-House Teams.

Our in-house teams handle shelving assembly, not a subcontracted installer: those who designed it, assemble it. If a constraint emerges on-site that wasn’t visible in the drawings, we call the technical department and adapt during the work.

We plan assembly around your production schedule, even in phases, to minimize downtime.

Shelving Maintenance and Inspection: The UNI EN 15635 Obligation.

Shelving inspection is not an option: it’s an employer’s obligation. Industrial shelving is not “warehouse furniture”; it’s work equipment under Legislative Decree 81/2008 (Art. 71). UNI EN 15635 requires an annual expert inspection, performed by qualified personnel and documented. But the point isn’t the fine: it’s the collapse. A shelving unit hit by a forklift and unchecked for a year can suddenly collapse, with its load above and people around.

We perform inspections and adaptation interventions on shelving of any brand, even when it’s not ours – what matters is compliance with the standard, not the brand on the column.

Shelving Disassembly and Reassembly

If a shelving unit needs to be moved or reconfigured, we handle its disassembly and subsequent reassembly, verifying the condition of the components and the structure’s compatibility with the new layout.

Our technical department evaluates the new configuration, required capacities, and any necessary adaptation interventions, so that the reassembled shelving is optimized for the new operating conditions. Where necessary, we replace damaged or unsuitable components.

From initial verification to reassembly, we manage every phase of the intervention, recovering existing structures and adapting them to new needs, while respecting safety and functionality requirements.

Why design, installation, and maintenance should be handled by a single partner.

When design, installation, and maintenance are handled by the same company, there is no lapse in accountability. The person performing the inspection ten years from now is the same one who engineered the structure and knows its design load capacities.

FAQ

Is an Annual Shelving Inspection Truly Mandatory?2026-10-06T10:11:15+01:00

Yes. Industrial shelving is considered work equipment pursuant to Legislative Decree 81/2008. UNI EN 15635, recognized as the reference technical standard, stipulates an annual expert inspection by a qualified technician. The employer is responsible for ensuring it is carried out and documented.

Who can perform shelving inspections?2026-10-06T10:13:27+01:00

The standard refers to the PRSES (Person Responsible for Storage Equipment Safety): a technician with specific training in storage systems, damage assessment criteria, and reporting.

How much does a rack inspection cost?2026-10-06T10:00:29+01:00

It depends on the size of the warehouse and the number of bays to be inspected. We determine the duration and cost after a quick on-site visit; the quote is free of charge. Generally, the inspection is the most affordable part of a shelving system’s entire life cycle, and the most useful.

What are the risks if I don’t perform it?2026-10-06T10:00:47+01:00

Administratively, you face sanctions under Legislative Decree 81/2008. In terms of liability, in the event of an accident, the failure to perform inspections is a direct aggravating factor for the employer. Operationally, an uninspected shelving system can collapse without warning.

Do you perform inspections and maintenance on non-MCT shelving as well?2026-10-06T10:29:37+01:00

Yes, on shelving systems of any Italian or international brand. UNI EN 15635 applies regardless of the manufacturer: we inspect, adjust, and replace damaged components, even on systems installed by others.

Do you also install shelving systems purchased elsewhere?2026-10-06T10:29:07+01:00

We manage installation for projects we oversee from the calculation phase, ensuring that design load capacities match the installed structure. For third-party structures, we primarily provide verification, adaptation, and compliance services.

Does the inspection also apply to cantilever, drive-in, and Autosat systems?2026-10-06T10:11:04+01:00

Yes. The UNI EN 15635 standard covers all industrial storage systems. For cantilever and drive-in systems, the verification criteria differ slightly from pallet racks, but the annual inspection requirement remains the same.

Can you respond quickly to serious issues?2026-10-06T10:11:53+01:00

Damage classified as “red” requires the immediate decommissioning of the bay until repairs are made. We prioritize interventions as quickly as possible, often within 5-10 days, using materials from stock.
